I was the leader of the design efforts at Sequin, overseeing everything from product design to our go-to-market strategy. I collaborated with the team on a range of projects, which included designing marketing materials, shaping the brand's identity, and giving the company website a makeover. Additionally, I actively contributed to designing solutions for initiatives involving direct clients, closely collaborating with the team to ensure perfect alignment with our clients' goals and objectives.

The Challenge

How might we showcase Unreal Engine scenes and content as they are meant to be seen online?

The current methods of sharing content, which typically involve recording videos of scenes and sharing them on video platforms or social media, take slight advantage of the 3D interactive and immersive features that Unreal Engine offers.

The Approach

Understanding the challenges faced by content creators when it comes to sharing 3D scenes online

Through the collaboration with Unreal Engine creators, we have identified an excellent opportunity to fill a gap in the market by providing a means for viewers to interact with creators' content. This distribution base not only enables creators to share their scenes but also allows them to make every aspect of their work interactive using blueprints. The platform further streamlines the process by allowing for seamless transitions between scenes. It provides people with an online portfolio to showcase their 3D interactive creations.

We interviewed over twenty 3D creative professionals to gather insights on enhancing and positioning the product as the leading 3D portfolio solution, alongside ArtStation.

When dealing with complicated situations, designers and developers must react quickly because product needs change often, and research and development happen simultaneously. There's a lot of similar content in this process. To streamline things, we created a design system for our enterprise products. It's centered on three key values: Engaging, consistent, and relevant. This system standardizes the user interface guidelines, cuts down on duplicate work, and lowers production expenses. This way, designers can concentrate on creating better user experiences.

Clear calls to action and intuitive navigation encourage exploration, keeping users motivated and immersed. This interactivity boosts satisfaction, dwell times, and conversions.

Predictable interaction patterns make it easier for users to understand the interface. This uniformity not only enhances usability but also strengthens the brand identity.

Designing for B2B and B2C

Easily manage both your scene and world settings in a single location

On the project page, users have the ability to modify their scene or world images, name, and description. Additionally, users can also access and adjust their gameplay settings, presented in the form of blueprints within Unreal Engine. These settings include the number of people present in a given instance, the ability to enable chat and voice, and the option to activate a multiplayer session. Users can view changes and content in real-time, or choose to publish or draft their project as needed.
